The State Government of Tamil Nadu has launched this impactful flagship housing scheme named Kalaignar Kanavu illam Housing Scheme, in which the Government aims to provide permanent and safe housing to families living in huts and underdeveloped areas. This initiative is aimed at creating a hut-free Tamil Nadu by 2030, aiming to construct over 8 lakh concrete houses in a time period of 6 years. Under this initiative, the Government will provide financial help of INR 3.5 Lakh for the construction of the permanent houses with a minimum area of 360 sq. Ft. The scheme provides subsidized cement and steel, loans up to ₹50,000, and connections for water and power.

- Citizens having a pucca house or any property registered in their names are not eligible.
